Updating Cases
The AI Agent can update case records in Axonius Case Management from the chat. Before making any changes, the agent shows you exactly what will be changed and which cases are affected, and waits for your explicit confirmation.
Required Permissions
Updating cases through the AI Agent requires:
- The Case Management permissions needed to update cases in Axonius
- The AI Agents write operations capability enabled for your role
Updating a Single Case
To update a specific case, describe the change you want in plain language:
- "Assign the 'Unresolved High CVEs' case to Sarah Johnson."
- "Clear the due date on the 'Q3 Remediation' case."
- "Reassign the case with ID 12345 to be unassigned."
Assignee changes. The agent resolves the name you provide against the list of users in your Axonius environment. If the name matches multiple users, the agent will show you the candidates and ask you to confirm which one you mean. If you want to unassign a case — removing the current assignee — say "unassign" or "remove the assignee."
Clearing the due date. Ask the agent to "clear the due date" or "remove the due date" from a case. This sets the due date to blank.
Before applying the change, the agent shows a preview that names the exact user (for assignee changes) or describes the change precisely. After you confirm, the change is applied.
Bulk Status Change
To change the status of multiple cases at once, describe the cases you want to update and the target status:
- "Mark all cases in the 'Patch Tuesday' case set as Closed."
- "Set the status of these three cases to In Progress: [case names or IDs]."
- "Bulk close all the cases assigned to the 'Expired SLA' set."
The agent supports changing status on up to 20 cases in a single operation. Before applying the change, the agent lists every affected case by title so you can review the scope. After you confirm, all the cases are updated together in a single operation — either all succeed or none are changed.
Viewing the Updated Case
After you confirm an update, the agent reports that the change was applied. To view the updated case, navigate to the Case Management page in Axonius, or ask the agent for a link to the case.
