BIND

BIND is a DNS server software that provides domain name resolution and management services.

Types of Assets Fetched

This adapter fetches the following types of assets:

Parameters

1. Connection Type (required) - Select DNS Zone Transfer or Retrieve Zone File as your connection type. If you select DNS Zone Transfer, then DNS Settings are displayed. If you select Retrieve Zone File, then Remote File Settings are displayed.

2. Domain Name (required) - The hostname or IP address of the BIND server that Axonius can communicate with via the Required Ports.

Remote File Settings

3. File name (required) - Specify a unique remote file name for the adapter connection.
4. Select file source (required) - The BIND adapter supports upload of files from a variety of file sources (like in the CSV adapter). The parameters you need to enter change according to the file source that you select. The default is Upload File. Refer to File Sources for full details.
5. Upload file (required) - Click Upload File to manually upload the remote file.
6. Encoding (optional) - Specify a specific file encoding or let Axonius encode it.
7. Ignore illegal characters - Select this option to ignore illegal characters during the data import. An illegal character is any character that cannot be translated in the specified file encoding. If you do not select this option, and an illegal character is found, the entire data import fails.
8. Verify SSL - Select whether to verify the SSL certificate of the server against the CA database inside of Axonius. For more details, see SSL Trust & CA Settings.
9. HTTP Proxy (optional) - Connect the adapter to a HTTP proxy instead of directly connecting it to the domain.
10. HTTPS Proxy (optional) - Connect the adapter to a HTTPs proxy instead of directly connecting it to the domain.

Required Ports

Axonius must be able to communicate with the value supplied in Host Name or IP Address via the following ports:

• TCP port 443

Required Permissions

The value supplied in User Name must have xxx permissions in order to fetch assets.

The value supplied in API Key must be associated with credentials that have xxx permissions in order to fetch assets.

1. DNS: Zone Transfer must be allowed
2. SSH: OS file permissions to the zone file
3. Remote File: permissions to access the file wherever it may live
