Create Cherwell Computer

The Create Cherwell Computer action takes the saved query supplied as a trigger (or devices that have been selected in the asset table) and creates a computer in Cherwell for each of the query result entities.

To configure the Create Cherwell Computer action, from the Action Library, click Manage CMDB Computer, and then click Create Cherwell Computer.

Connection Settings

  1. Use stored credentials from the Cherwell adapter (required, default: False) - Select this option to use the first connected Cherwell adapter credentials.
NOTE
  • To use this option, you must successfully configure a Cherwell IT Service Management adapter connection.
  • The user name and the password used for the adapter connection must be user with permissions to create new incidents.
  1. Cherwell domain (optional, default: empty) - The hostname or IP address of the Cherwell server.
    NOTE
    If Use stored credentials from the Cherwell adapter is disabled, this field is required.
  2. User name and Password (optional, default: empty) - The user name and the password of a user account that has permissions to read and to modify devices.
    NOTE
    If Use stored credentials from the Cherwell adapter is disabled, this field is required.
  3. Client ID (optional, default: empty) - Enter the client ID created in the CSM Administrator. For details, see Cherwell - Obtaining API Client IDs.
    NOTE
    If Use stored credentials from the Cherwell adapter is disabled, this field is required.
  4. Verify SSL (required, default: False) - Verify the SSL certificate offered by the value supplied in Cherwell domain. For more details, see SSL Trust & CA Settings.
    • If enabled, the SSL certificate offered by the value supplied in Cherwell domain will be verified against the CA database inside of Axonius. If the SSL certificate can not be validated against the CA database inside of Axonius, the connection will fail with an error.
    • If disabled, the SSL certificate offered by the value supplied in Cherwell domain will not be verified against the CA database inside of Axonius.
  5. HTTPS proxy (optional, default: empty) - A proxy to use when connecting to the value supplied in Cherwell domain.
    • If supplied, Axonius will utilize the proxy when connecting to the value supplied in Cherwell domain.
    • If not supplied, Axonius will connect directly to the value supplied in Cherwell domain.
  6. Instance name (required) - The Axonius node to utilize when connecting to the specified host. For more details, see Connecting Additional Axonius Nodes.

Action Settings

  1. Business Object ID (required, defualt: 9343f8800bd7ce14f0bf0a402d9d38be1a25069644) - Specify the Cherwell Business Object ID to be associated with the created computer in Cherwell.
  2. Additional fields (optional, default: empty) - Specify additional fields to be added as part of the Cherwell computer as key/value pairs in a JSON format. For example: {"field1": "value1", "field2": "value2"}.
    • If supplied, Axonius will add the specified fields and values to the created computer in Cherwell. If one of the specified fields is invalid, the request might fail.
    • If not supplied, Axonius will not add any additional fields to the created computer in Cherwell.
  3. Axonius to Cherwell field mapping (optional, default: empty) - Specify additional fields to be added to the Cherwell computer based on the device's Axonius fields. The input should be key/value pairs in a JSON format. For example: {"axonius_field1":"cherwell_field1", "axonius_field2":"cherwell_field2"}.
    • If supplied, Axonius will add the specified fields and values to the created computer in Cherwell. If one of the specified fields is invalid, the request might fail.
    • If not supplied, Axonius will not add any fields to the created computer in Cherwell, beyond the default field mapped from Axonius.
  4. Use first IP address only (required, default: False) - Select whether the first IP address to be added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If enabled, only the device's first IP address will be added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If disabled, all the device's IP addresses will be added to the Cherwell computer.
  5. IP addresses delimiter (optional, default: /) - Specify the delimiter to separate between multiple IP addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If supplied, the specified delimiter will be used to separate between multiple IP addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If not supplied, the default delimiter will be used to separate between multiple IP addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
  6. Use first MAC address only (required, default: True) - Select whether the first MAC address to be added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If enabled, only the device's first MAC address will be added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If disabled, all the device's MAC addresses will be added to the Cherwell computer.
  7. MAC addresses delimiter (optional, default: /) - Specify the delimiter to separate between multiple MAC addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If supplied, the specified delimiter will be used to separate between multiple MAC addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
    • If not supplied, the default delimiter will be used to separate between multiple MAC addresses added to the Cherwell computer.
