Managing Your Axonius AI Credits

Use the Credit Management page to view credit consumption and distribute credit allocations to users and roles across your organization.

Permissions

To access the Credit Management page, your role needs the Configure AI system settings permission. Any role can have this permission.

Credit Overview

A credit is one AI turn β€” one request and response in the AI Companion or a worker run.

Users receive a warning when they reach 90% of their allowance and are blocked from using AI tools when they reach 100%.

The Credit Management page displays three summary tiles:

  • Promotional credits β€” The total number of credits in your promotional bucket and its expiry date.
  • Allocated β€” The number of credits distributed to users and roles, and how many remain unallocated.
  • Used β€” The total credits consumed, shown as a percentage of the bucket, and the number of allocated users.

Axonius creates two bucket types: Promotional and Purchased. The system uses Promotional credits first, then the Purchased bucket that expires soonest. Each bucket has an expiry date. There is no monthly reset.

The Promotional bucket bar breaks down credit usage into three categories:

  • Used β€” Credits already consumed.
  • Allocated, unused β€” Credits distributed but not yet consumed.
  • Unallocated β€” Credits not yet distributed to any user or role.

Starter Credits

When your organization first enables AI, Axonius grants starter credits one time: the 10 administrators who signed in most recently each receive 25 credits, and the AI Workforce account receives 50 credits.

Distributing Credits by User

Use the Manage by user tab to view and set credit allocations for individual users.

The AI Workforce account appears pinned at the top of the table. A note on this row reads: "Automated Axonius runs are free for a trial period. Credits allocation is required for additional automated runs and may be required later." It represents organizational AI Workers β€” workers created with the Run as the AI Workforce option. Credits consumed by those workers count against the AI Workforce allowance. Runs from Axonius built-in workers, featured flows, and the daily digest don't count against this allowance. If you don't set an allowance for the AI Workforce account, organizational workers are blocked.

Personal custom workers use the owner's credits, not the AI Workforce account's allowance.

The table includes the following columns:

  • User β€” The name or Email address of the user. The AI Workforce account is always pinned at the top.
  • Role β€” The role assigned to the user.
  • Promotional Credits β€” The credit limit set for the user in the promotional bucket. Displays No limit set if no allowance is configured. A user with no allowance is blocked and sees: "You don't have a credit allowance yet. Contact your administrator to request one."
  • Promotional usage β€” A progress bar showing the percentage of allocated credits consumed.
  • User status β€” The user's status: Active, Archived, or Archived with allowance.

Setting a User's Credit Allowance

  1. In the Manage by user tab, hover over the user row and click the edit icon.
  2. In the drawer that opens, the Current usage section shows the user's used and remaining credits for the current period.
  3. Under Promotional credits, enter the allowance for the promotional bucket. The helper text shows the headroom available β€” the remaining unallocated credits in the bucket. The After change section previews the total credits that will be assigned across all users after you save.
  4. Under Purchased usage allowance, in Allocated allowance (credits), enter the credit amount.
  5. Click Save.

Note

The sum of all user allowances in a bucket can't exceed the bucket's total size. If the allowance you enter exceeds the available headroom, saving is blocked.

Viewing Expired User Buckets

Enable Show expired buckets to include users whose credit buckets have expired in the table.

Distributing Credits by Role

Use the Manage by role tab to view and set credit allocations at the role level. You can apply an allowance to all users currently in a role at once, set a default for users who join the role later, or both.

The table includes the following columns:

  • Role β€” The name of the role.
  • Users β€” The number of active users assigned to the role.
  • Promotional Β· Default Credits β€” The default credit allocation applied to users who join this role.
  • Promotional Β· used / allowance β€” Credits consumed out of the total allowance allocated to the role.
  • Promotional usage β€” A progress bar showing the percentage of allocated credits consumed. Displays in red when usage exceeds 100%.

Setting a Role's Credit Allowance

  1. In the Manage by role tab, hover over the role row and click the edit icon.
  2. In the drawer that opens, select a bucket tab. The Role field shows the role name and the number of active users in the role.
  3. In Credits per user, enter the credit amount. The credits you enter become the role's default β€” users who join the role later receive this amount automatically.
  4. To apply the amount to all users currently in the role, select Apply the bulk override to all existing users in this role. (This will affect the total credits).
    • Total credits updates to show the calculated total (active users Γ— credits per user).
    • The bucket card shows the projected distribution: Used, Allocated, unused, This distribution, and Unallocated after. The Net change and Unallocated balance rows show the before and after impact on the bucket.
    • If you don't select this option, only the role default changes. Users already in the role keep their current allowance and the bucket balance stays the same.
  5. Click Save.

Notes

  • Saving is blocked if the net credit increase exceeds the bucket's unallocated balance. Lowering a credit allowance is always permitted.
  • Each bucket tab operates independently β€” saving on one doesn't change another.
  • If any users have already consumed more than the new amount, a warning appears stating how many users will be blocked when you save.

Distributing Credits to Empty Roles

You can set a default for a role that has no active users. Total credits shows 0, and only the default is stored. Credits apply to users when they join the role.

  1. In the Manage by role tab, hover over the role row and click the edit icon.
  2. In the drawer that opens, select a bucket tab and enter the credit amount in Credits per user.
  3. Click Save.

Viewing Expired Role Buckets

Enable Show expired buckets to include roles whose credit buckets have expired in the table.

Exporting Credit Data

To export credit data, click Export CSV at the top right of the table. Axonius downloads a CSV file with the current table data.
