Data Scope Settings

Use data scope settings to configure the following:

• Data scope update interval (hours) - Asset scope queries are updated every X hours.
• Update complete history with scope interval - When selected, and the data scope queries have been updated, historical data is re-filtered according to the new query parameters.
• Enable data scope profiles - When selected, you can apply data scope profiles to data scopes. When data scope profiles are enabled, the "Data scope profile" section is added to the top of the data scope configuration drawer (including existing data scopes).
• Also update data scopes when a discovery cycle ends - When selected, each discovery cycle also starts a data scope update near its end, after Axonius correlates the assets. This option is cleared by default. See Updating Data Scopes When a Discovery Cycle Ends.

To access data scope settings:

1. From the top right corner of any page, click . The System Settings page opens.

2. In the Categories/Subcategories pane of the System Settings page, expand User and Role Management, and select Data Scopes.

3. The Data Scopes tab is displayed. Data scope settings are only accessible from the Data Scopes tab.

4. Click Settings.

   The Data Scope Settings dialog is displayed.

Updating the Data in a Data Scope

From the Add Data Scope menu, click Edit Data Scope Settings to define the frequency at which the data scope data is updated. These settings apply to all data scopes.

• Set the frequency in hours in which the asset scope query results are updated. The default value is every 6 hours.
• Select Update complete history with scope interval to include historical data in the asset scope, otherwise the relevant roles can see data only from the day the scope was created.

Updating Data Scopes When a Discovery Cycle Ends

By default, data scopes update only at the Data scope update interval (hours). Select Also update data scopes when a discovery cycle ends to include the assets of each discovery cycle in your data scopes soon after the cycle finishes.

To update data scopes when a discovery cycle ends:

1. Open the Data Scope Settings dialog, as described in To access data scope settings.
2. Select Also update data scopes when a discovery cycle ends.
3. Click Save. The message Data scope settings updated appears.

Keep the following in mind:

• This option is cleared by default. When cleared, data scopes update only at the Data scope update interval (hours). The default is every 6 hours.
• When selected, each discovery cycle also starts a data scope update near its end, after Axonius correlates the assets. Updates at the interval continue as before.
• The data scope update runs in the background. The discovery cycle doesn't wait for it to finish.
• If a data scope update is already in the queue, the discovery cycle doesn't add a second update. The queued update also includes the assets of that cycle. If an update is running and none is in the queue, the discovery cycle adds one update to the queue.
• Save is disabled until you change a value. The other options in the dialog don't change.

For example, the update interval is 6 hours and a discovery cycle ends at 10:00. When this option is selected, your data scopes include the new assets of that cycle soon after 10:00. When this option is cleared, your data scopes include them at the next interval update.
