Searching Across Axonius with Global Search

Global Search searches across all entity types configured in your Axonius environment from a single query. Instead of querying devices, then users, then CVEs separately, you can ask one question and get results grouped by type.

Entity types covered include devices, users, software, SaaS applications, security findings, vulnerabilities, and other asset types configured in your environment. The results also surface matches in Axonius platform objects such as saved queries and dashboards, depending on what matches your search term.

Triggering a Global Search

Global Search is most useful when you want to find all information about a specific identifier — a hostname, an IP address, a CVE ID, a user name, or any other value that might appear across multiple asset types.

Ask the agent using natural language:

  • "Tell me everything about device LAPTOP-42."
  • "What do you know about CVE-2024-12345?"
  • "Find all references to user [email protected] across the platform."
  • "Search for everything related to 10.0.1.5."

The agent treats these as global search requests and returns results grouped by entity type.

Interpreting Global Search Results

Results are returned grouped by entity type. For each group, you see:

  • The entity type name (for example, Devices, Security Findings)
  • A count of how many records matched
  • A list of individual matches, each with a name or identifier and a link

The default result set is limited to 25 matches across all entity types to keep the response size manageable. If you need more results, you can ask the agent to expand a specific group: "Show me more of the device matches."

Navigating to a Record

Each result in a global search response includes a link that opens the full record in Axonius. Clicking a device result, for example, opens the device's Asset Profile page. Clicking a saved query result opens that query in the Query Builder.

These links open in the same browser window, so you may want to use middle-click or right-click to open them in a new tab if you want to keep the chat open.
