Article Summary

You can import and export Dashboards to and from Axonius. Dashboards are exported from Axonius in JSON file format. An exported Dashboard can be imported. This makes it easy to move Dashboards from one Axonius environment to another.

All charts and their settings, including queries, are exported. Access permissions are NOT exported with dashboards. When importing, you can set the access level of the dashboards.

  • A Dashboard can only be imported to the same or later version of Axonius as it was exported.
  • Roles that are unrestricted and have the following permissions can import and export Dashboards:
    • Import Dashboard
    • Export Dashboard
  • Dashboards with all access permissions, including custom or Private, can be imported and exported.
  • System dashboards, including My Dashboard, cannot be exported.

For more information about Data Scopes, see Data Scope Management.

  2. From the three-dot menu next to the Dashboard name in the Dashboard List or above the upper right corner of the Dashboard, select Export Dashboard. The Dashboard is downloaded to your local computer as a JSON file.

    • No Access - The selected roles will not have access to the Dashboard. This is useful if you want to grant access to all roles except a few.
    • System Access - The selected roles are granted access according to the permissions configured for each role.
    • Viewers - The selected roles only have permission to view the Dashboard, regardless of the permissions configured for each role.
    • Editors - The selected roles have permission to view and edit the Dashboard, regardless of the permissions configured for each role.
    NOTE
See Managing Roles for more information about assigning permissions to roles at the system level.
  7. For All roles, select the permission level for all roles not specifically selected above.

A description of the access settings is displayed in the blue message area.

Note:

Share with selected roles within all Data Scopes is not available for imported dashboards.

  1. Select Admin Access Only to give access only to users with the Admin role.
  2. In the Import Dashboard dialog, select what to do if a dashboard or one of the underlying queries with the same name as that being imported already exists.
  • Click Overwrite to import the dashboards and overwrite the previously existing dashboards with the same name.
  • Click Create a Copy to import the dashboards using the same name as the existing ones. The existing dashboards are still available.
  1. Click Save. The Dashboards are imported and added to the Dashboard List according to the access permissions you selected.
NOTES
  • When importing multiple dashboards at the same time, the selected access settings are applied to them all.
  • A dashboard can only be imported to the same dot release, or higher, as it was exported from. For example, a dashboard exported from version 4.8.x can only be imported to a similar version: 4.8.x or higher.
  • When a dashboard is imported with the same name as an existing dashboard, the existing dashboard will be overwritten. Save the imported dashboard with a new name to preserve the existing dashboard.
