Article summary

You can collect and correlate information about your assets by using Axonius' adapters, which integrate with a wide array of security and IT management solutions.

To Achieve this Milestone

Navigate to the Adapters page, which displays the list of adapters — solutions that Axonius integrates with. Connect at least three adapters to fetch data for your devices and users from at least three different sources.

Note:
  • The Axonius-hosted (SaaS) instance resides in the cloud and is not part of your organization's internal network. Axonius securely fetches data from the organization's data sources, known as adapters.
  • The Axonius Gateway enables establishing a link between an internal network or segregated network (for Customer-hosted (on-premise / private cloud)) and the primary Axonius instance.
  • Axonius Gateway is only required to connect adapters whose sources are only accessible by an internal network or segregated network (for Customer-hosted (on-premise / private cloud))
  • Axonius Gateway is not required to connect adapters whose sources are accessible from the internet or the primary Axonius instance.
  • Once a Gateway is successfully installed, you need to select the Gateway in the Adapter Configuration drawer under the Gateway field.
  • For details on configuring and installing the Axonius Gateway, see Installing the Axonius Gateway.

Adding a New Adapter Connection

To add a new adapter connection:

  1. Open the Adapters page by clicking the image.png adapter icon on the left navigation panel.

  1. Click in the Search Categories field to search for one or more adapter category names to help you connect relevant adapters.

  2. Click the relevant adapter. The Adapter Profile page displays the list of configured connections.

    NOTE
    • Axonius Gateway enables establishment of a link between an internal network and the primary Axonius instance, which may be an Axonius-hosted (SaaS) instance or Customer-hosted (on-premise / private cloud).
    • To connect adapters that are only accessible by an internal network or segregated network (for Customer-hosted (on-premise / private cloud)), you must configure and install an Axonius Gateway on a server that has access to those sources. Once the tunnel is successfully installed, you need to select the tunnel in the Adapter Configuration dialog under the Gateway field.
    • For more details, see Configure and connect adapters to use the Axonius Gateway
  3. To add a new connection, click Add Connection. The Adapter Connection Configuration module opens.

  4. Populate the required information.

  5. To set the connection as inactive, switch off the Active Connection toggle button.
When switched off, the configured connection will be considered as inactive. The connection can be saved, but it will not fetch data from its source. Therefore:

    • The Check Network Connectivity button will be disabled.
    • The Saved and Fetch button will be disabled.
    • During a discovery cycle, this connection will be ignored and no data will be fetched from its source.
  6. To test the network connectivity to the supplied hostname or the IP address, click Check Network Connectivity.

  7. To save the configuration changes and initiate a data fetch from the configured source, click Save and Fetch.

  8. To save the configuration changes without initiating data fetch, click Save.

Note:
Some adapters require additional steps to gain the relevant connection details, such as generating API keys or other steps. To understand the required actions for connecting each adapter, open its connection documentation page. For more details, see Adapters List and the Adapter Matrix on the Axonius website.
